Our Family Vacation

Hello Everyone!

What a great break from "real life" we had on our family vacation! It was fun to hit the road with no agenda! We visited some family and friends, did a lot of exploring, discovered many new and exciting places, and went to places that Matt and I had been to when we were children.

We started our trip with some of my family in Medora, ND. Medora has a special place in my heart because I spent the summer prior to moving to Washington working for the Medora foundation. In this tiny North Dakota town, conveniently located next to the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, there is so much to do. The main event is the Medora Musical. We had so much fun attending it with my mom's brother's family. Destiny loved the music and dancing! Below is an old time photo of our family.

Here is Destiny, Addi, and my cousin Caelic sitting on a bench downtown Medora.

Pa taught Destiny how to fix his coffee. *a little sugar and a little cream*
We had a great time in Medora! It was fun to see my Uncle's family and have my mom and dad with us as we enjoyed some good old fashion family fun!
Next stop: Spearfish, SD. Here is Destiny slurping some noodles at the BayLeaf restaurant.
We explored Spearfish a little bit and found a fish hatchery. Destiny loved feeding the fishies!
Me by The Secret Garden Bed and Breakfast. We enjoyed one night here. We had the whole house to ourselves. We had a two bedroom suit that worked out perfectly for us. The owner was a nice lady who served a yummy breakfast!

Destiny enjoying her fruit at breakfast.
After a night in Spearfish we stopped by Mount Rushmore. Destiny loved talking about "the heads". She pointed out the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears!
After Mount Rushmore, we headed south to Colorado. We visited Matt's Uncle Chuck and Aunt Maggie in a suburb of Denver. The girls were greeted with great big stuffed animal dogs and enjoyed some playtime in the yard! It was a great visit with Chuck and Maggie. We had not seen them since our wedding over 5 years ago.
Destiny took a crack at riding a bike...she has one waiting for her in Australia!
We spent the night in a hotel in Colorado. Destiny was out like a light! I thought this picture was perfect!
The next day we headed toward Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Brokaw's house in Wheatland, WY. Destiny was greeted by Grandma and Grandpa with this cute dress!
We spent a couple hours out at the farm with Matt's mom and sister. This is Matt, Addi, Ladybug and Sally walking in her vineyard.
Grandma Sally let Destiny hose the dog off on the hot day! Destiny hosed herself too!
Addi looking up to Great Grandpa. The kids sure love Matt's side of the family!
Auntie Sam with Destiny and Addi.

In Wheatland we checked out the redneck rodeo! We had a blast at the demo derby!
After saying our good-byes in Wheatland we headed north to Spearfish again. On our way we stopped at Storybook Island. I remember going to this park when I was a kid. It's a free attraction that has toys that are made to resemble different fairy tales and poems that most children hear while growing up.

The wizard of OZ...can you pick out the Sanchez family members?
Addi riding on a little tug boat.
The hundred acre woods
Raggedy Ann and Andy...My sister Bekki and I have a picture of us that is just like this!
While in Spearfish for the second time, we stayed in Sand Creek Bed and Breakfast. What a neat place! We enjoyed watching the horses roam in the pasture and a lightning storm that lit up the sky in the night. The owner was a lovely lady who was easy to talk to and very welcoming. We enjoyed every second at the inn.
Destiny and I on the front porch.
The next day we headed up to Beach, ND to visit my Uncle John and his family at their home. We enjoyed a comfy night's sleep on a sleep number bed and had a great time playing games with the kids. Destiny even went down the water slide at the pool all by herself (over and over again).
Destiny and Caelic loved playing in the pack-n-play!
Destiny tried out the bat and ball.
All in all it was a great trip. We enjoyed seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends. It sure is great to have our whole family together!
We are off to a busy week here at mom and dad's house. Tons of wedding plans are going on because the wedding is only 2 weeks away!
I'll be back with more info on that!
Enjoy today!
