Magical Botanical

Good morning, blog world!

How was your weekend? or maybe How is it wrapping up? Our weekend was a magical one. For the most part we were wonderfully lazy. Sweaters were worn, along with sweat pants. Tea was consumed more frequently that usual and we watched countless movies. I even beat a game on the Internet and I'm SO not a gamer! haha!

We did take some time out on Sunday morning to enjoy a trip to the Botanical Garden here in Canberra. It was fantastic! We signed up for a program for people who are new to Canberra. They give you tickets to attend different events. We were able to attend a "walk through the gardens". The event started with a brief introduction of the guides and then we went off with one other couple and their son. They were from the UK. Our guide's name was Rose; I thought that was appropriate for a garden tour. :)

This is where it all started. It was such a beautiful morning too!
The girls were ready for the tour.

After our walk through the gardens, they had morning tea. It was so yummy! There is a restaurant on the premises and they served mini muffins, pastries, cookies, and my favorite....SHORT BREAD! It was so lovely!
We met some really nice people and we are really looking forward to our next event!
After our tour, we drove up to the Telstra tower. Addi fell asleep on the drive so we took turns jumping out of the car and having a look. You can see this tower from ALL over Canberra. It's so unique and special looking. Some one told us there is a restaurant in there, but if any of you know for sure...pass on the correct info to us! It reminds me a bit of the space needle in Seattle!
Here is the lovely city in which we now reside! beautiful isn't it! I bet it makes you want to come visit *wink wink*
On Saturday we checked out the farmer's market near our house. It was AMAZING! They had EVERYTHING a girl could dream of! Above are our goodies: eggs, rhubarb, blueberries, broccoli, corn on the cob, some fancy Greek desert (none of us liked it...boo!), flowers, chocolate chip muffins and a rum ball (yuck...Matt liked it!)

A close up of the muffin (of my dreams)! It was SO good!

Yes, I play with my food...I made it look like a face :) blueberries, carrot and meat pie! yum!

At the garden I learned a new Aussie phrase so here is our Aussie word o' the day: Hard Yakka = Hard work (defined for the very tough Yakka wood that they would work with)
Hope you guys don't have any hard yakka going on today! Here I am hard at it, like always :)
Enjoy today!
